As we approach the end of the current Continuing Education (CE) cycle, we would like to remind you that all registered individuals (i.e., Representatives, Associate Advisors, Junior Advisors, Licensed Assistants, Branch Managers) are required to comply with CE requirements to maintain their registration in good standing.
While several reminders have been shared throughout the year, we understand that some of you may still be in the process of completing your CE requirements. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to take immediate action to ensure compliance ahead of the November 30, 2025 deadline.
Next Steps
- Check your CE status now via your CERTS and/or CSF account.
- Complete any outstanding credits without delay, prioritizing mandatory courses. Accredited continuing education content is available through:
- Investia Learning - Investia reports attendance for these sessions;
- Fund company platforms (e.g., Fidelity, Dynamic, Manulife).
- Write to sales_communications@investia.ca if you encounter CERTS access issues or have any questions.
Reporting Requirements
Please see the chart below outlining the reporting requirements:
For CIRO Registrants (ONLY):
- Business Conduct (BC) Credit Requirements
BC credit requirements are divided between ethics and non-ethics credits.- For those with full requirements (i.e., 8 BC credits), you must earn a minimum of 1 but a maximum of 2 BC credits related to ethics. The remaining credits must be BC non-ethics credits.
- The CE Summary in CERTS will only show the maximum number of credits a participant can earn in each category within a cycle and the maximum number of BC credits related to ethics is 2.
- For those required to complete less than 8 BC credits (e.g., those who had a leave of absence or became registered mid-cycle), there is no minimum BC ethics requirement, but you still may earn no more than 2 ethics BC credits.
- Mandatory Compliance (MC) Credits
The Compliance credits are earned by completing the two Compliance credit activities that are provided during the cycle.- One Compliance credit activity will be posted to CERTS each year.
- To access it, participants must log into CERTS and select “Register for MC Credits” in the right-hand action menu.
Non-Compliance
Failure to obtain the necessary CE credits by the end of the reporting cycle will result in your registration record noted as “not in good standing” and will result in disciplinary action imposed by CIRO. This may include:
- A record in your permanent NRD registration file
- An action plan to address the deficiency
- Suspension of your registration until compliance is achieved
We strongly encourage you to confirm your current standing in the CERTS and/or CSF portal(s).
