The Ontario government has announced that amendments to provincial securities legislation officially came into force on July 1, 2025. These changes impact the investigation procedures of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).
Among the key changes, the OSC can now serve subpoenas electronically, rather than solely in person. This change streamlines investigations by reducing time and costs, while enhancing investor protection. It also provides greater operational flexibility and enables more discreet and efficient delivery to the individuals involved.
